The Story
Old-vine Mencía from Bierzo—the collaboration between Álvaro Palacios (of Priorat fame) and his nephew Ricardo Pérez Palacios. Established in 1998, the project set out to find Bierzo's finest old hillside and hilltop vineyards. 'Pétalos' refers to petals on a flower: each vineyard parcel contributes one petal to the whole. The Viñas Viejas designation signals the oldest vines, grown on slate soils at Bierzo's western edge.
