The Story
La Tâche is DRC's monopole and the largest of their Grand Crus, generally the most opulent and structured of the domaine's reds. The 2017 reading is a particularly graceful one: this was a cooler, more transparent vintage in Burgundy, and La Tâche showed up paler than usual, almost translucent, leading with floral high notes, rose, leather, peat smoke, and racy red-berry fruit. The structure is there underneath, all whole-bunch spice and saline lift, but the wine drinks with an unusual approachability for the appellation.
