Domaine Duroche Gevrey-Chambertin Champ 2022 [NET]

Pierre Duroché has quietly become one of the most coveted names in Gevrey-Chambertin, and Champ is a perfect introduction to his classical style. The cuvée comes from two parcels at the northern edge of the village, planted in 1969 and 1973 on crinoidal limestone and sandy marl. Of his village lieux-dits, this is the high-toned, mineral one: lifted red fruit, salinity, lace-like tannins. Native-yeast fermentation, very little new oak, no fining or filtration. The 2022 is generous and ripe, with the saline cut that defines old-vine Gevrey from this corner. A village wine that drinks like more.
