Frédéric Magnien works out of Morey-Saint-Denis, and his village Morey is named for what defines it underground: "Coeur d'Argile," the heart of clay. Those clay-rich subsoils give this Pinot Noir an extra layer of flesh and depth — darker fruit, broader shoulders, a more brooding aromatic profile than the limestone-driven wines of neighboring Chambolle. From a strong 2022 vintage, it's a fine introduction to one of the Côte de Nuits' most underrated villages.
