Vines over a hundred years old are the whole story here. Grange Saint-Sauveur was founded in 2017 by Alice Gitton-Pouponneau and Antoine Pouponneau in Le Thoureil, Anjou, right on the Loire. 'Chenin Centenaire' comes from their parcel of century-old Chenin Blanc on a gently sloping clay-limestone hillside, farmed biodynamically, hand-harvested, and fermented with native yeasts. The result is a full-bodied, intense dry Chenin with real raciness and cut -- citrus, pear, and flint over a long, sculpted finish. A characterful, low-intervention Loire white.
