The Story
Nebbiolo built its reputation on Barolo and Barbaresco, so here is Nebbiolo as a rosato instead. Le Pianelle farms in Bramaterra, in Alto Piemonte, a corner of the region that had vastly more vineyard a century ago before phylloxera and the textile mills of Biella emptied the hills. Al Posto dei Fiori means "in place of flowers," and it is mostly Nebbiolo with a little Vespolina and Croatina, fermented in steel with a small share in used barrels. The result has actual body and length, a pink wine with a spine rather than a poolside afterthought. It drinks as well in November as it does in July.
