The Story
Moulin-a-Vent is the most powerful and age-worthy of the Beaujolais crus, often nicknamed the king of Beaujolais. Domaine de Colette's bottling comes from a small plot called Le Mont, with manganese-rich granite soils and south-east exposure, planted to bush-trained vines averaging seventy years old. Yields are kept low, harvest is by hand, and the wine is built to age. Expect a darker, more structured Beaujolais than usual, with floral lift, dark cherry fruit, and the silky tannins this cru is known for. Drink now with decanting or cellar a decade.
